I took redundancy from a fairly senior banking position last year.
I loved that job, but it was really not compatible with family life and I couldn't have kept it up for much longer without being completely burnt out, so the redundancy, although hard to swallow at the time turned out to be a blessing.
I'd planned to have a year off while thinking about what to do next, but a p-t finance officer job came up at very local school, so now I'm doing that 14 hours per week.
I love it, it's just challenging enough to be interesting without ever causing sleepless nights and I'm far more involved in my family and local community than I ever was, which is great.
However, I suspect before too long I'll need a bigger challenge and at some point I''ll need to earn a "proper" wage.
The job I'm doing is fairly limited in scope and doesn't include budgets or HR which I know bursars usually do. My school's bursar is lovely, but quite secretive and obviously if I talk to her it will seem like I'm after her job.
Can anyone advise what I should be doing to get my CV to a place where I'll be a strong candidate in say 2 years' time?
