Being paid both SMP and MA.

I Received my pay slip today after being paid yesterday. It states that I have been paid SMP. However, I'm not entitled to SMP because I was unknowingly pregnant when before I started my new job. They even sent me a SMP1 letter.

I have called HR and I am waiting for them to get back to me. I was off sick before maternity leave started and it does not state statutory sick pay on my pay slip- just basic pay and statutory pay.

Also I have already received my first maternity allowance payment. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Could the statutory pay mentioned be SSP not SMP? I received MA with DC3 as I was not entitled to SMP at the time. As I understand it, you only receive one or the other.

If your employer has paid SMP then I would expect that to be a mistake and you will probably be asked to return it. Do the figures seem correct for it to be SSP?

Thanks

It does, unfortunately, seem to be too much to be SSP. They would need to re-calculate it. I am waiting for them to get back to me. I hope they sort it out before the weekend so I know where I am financially.

It's annoying because I repeatedly told them that I was not entitled to SMP after doing my homework on maternity pay and they still got it wrong.
