I have been in and out of work ever since I was made redundant in 2008 and now its time to stop fannying about and actually do something in regards to earning money.

Ive not been completely out of work and have had a few temp jobs here and there. The last job I had was a temp christmas staff at a very well known department store. I finished there just after christmas 2010, but then in Jan 2011 I discovered I was pregnant (I know I know not good timing, but these things happen I suppose) then once DD2 was born we knew we would be moving to a new town over an hours drive away from where we were.

Anyway we are now moved and settled and its time for me to get back into work properly, but doing what? Im 33 and havent got a career as such. I have experience in retail (as mentioned above) and also in Accounts (My last proper job was working for a large travel organisation in purchase ledger for 4 years where I became the supervisor of the team of 6 people until I was made redundant)

Firstly I dont know if I should be looking at a career or just looking for a job and seeing where it takes me. All I do know is that I need to get back into work not just because its the right thing to do, but also because this staying at home is killing me. My family come first and always will so I dont want anything to come in the way of that, not that a career would if I time managed properly, but family is more important to me than any career could ever be. Also Im not sure if Im too late to think about careers as a) I cant afford to train as anything and b) there will always be a bright enthusiastic younger person to take up over me.

So what do I do? do I try to get back into accounts and possibly think about working my way up or do I look for shop work (I do enjoy helping customers and dealing with the general public and I often have a good raport with customers) and see if it takes me anywhere?

Sorry this is so long, I really dont want to drip feed. Just need some sort of plan (well as much as I can in the current economic climate anyway)
