anyone else had to cope with being interviewed for their own job of 2oyrs!! againsyt their colleagues? We have been promised a job somewhere in the organisation but don't know yet which ones of us will have to move, has been suggested that those scoring lowest at interview will be at risk.
How do I cope with the thought of going against close colleagues and friends :(((

Don't think about it as "going against close colleagues and friends", but just as "going for a job".

I once had to fight a redundancy situation, where I had been unfairly scored, and the result could have been one of the others being displaced - it's not a pleasant situation to be in, but you need to put your own need for an income first. That's what the others will do, too.

As it were, in my case, noone else was displaced, but my position reinstated, which was a bit of a relief, but the risk of putting someone else at risk of redundancy should never keep you from fighting for your own job. You really need to separate these things in your head.

Good luck with the interview.

Been there, done that, lost job - it was horrible, but we all knew cuts were going to be made and truth be told I knew I was for it (they wanted specialists, not generalists)

I was up against two close colleagues, three posts into two. Turned out they only kept one of us on and then recruited externally - and failed. This took 2 years. Then my other colleague took the job as bank staff and eventually got it permanently.

Meanwhile I had been made redundant, walked away with a fat pay-off and got a better job within 3 weeks. I'm still in that better job - it isn't more money, but it's more interesting work, a team so perfect I haven't had any stress at all in 3 years and have had 15 months without a sick day, and continuous professional development. Think of a door closing and another door opening, I'm rooting for you.

Thanks for your support, am alternating between having a good cry and planning how to fight my corner and make myself as upto date etc for the interview.
Wouldn't be so bad but I am sure that they won't keep both me and my closest colleague even if we both do well at interview as they have to consider skill mix as well,
Also the organisation doing this under the guise of improving services really gets me...they are such liars!!!
