Do you think I have misled my prospective new employer?

...by not expressly telling them I am currently on maternity leave?

I was planning to mention it at my second round interview but an opportune moment didn't really arise and I didn't really want to shoehorn it in. So I didn't mention it.

I have given details of my children's dates of birth for the purposes of insurance benefits connected with the role, so they do know indirectly know that I have a young baby and am likely to be on mat leave (or, at least, would have been). But this might just go through HR and not actually be brought to the attention of the team I'll be working with.

I know I didn't / don't have to tell them but I feel a bit funny about it. Inevitably I will discuss my home life / family with them once I start work at some point and they will no doubt put two and two together....I don't know, I suppose I'm a bit worried they will think I've not been straight with them / have concealed my ML.

Do you think I have misled them? What, if anything should I do about it? And how should I handle it when the issue of my homelife / kids arises once I've started work?

Do you plan to start straight away? If so then I can't see what difference it makes.

Just be yourself when you start there. They have employed you because you are the best person for the job.
If you try and hide your ML, you'll get caught out, and that will have been misleading people.

In a few weeks time. I had to give notice to my current employer. My notice period was actually 3 months but I asked them to release me early, which they have agreed. I could have asked to let them to release me immediately (and they would probably have said yes) and started straight away, but I didn't because I want to have a few weeks to start settling the children into the new childcare arrangements. I also wanted to have a bit of time to catch up on developments since I've been on ML.

I didn't tell them all of this though - I just said I'm on a 3 month notice period and I've agreed an early release date of x with my current employer which means I can start on y.
