Temping part time??

Hello, I gave up my day job just before Christmas for a whole host of reasons and I now have a business that I run from home but could do with some more regular income (and also could do with getting out of the house a bit!)

I have been thinking about doing temping - I did it years ago after I first finished uni and I have a pretty good typing speed. I am not bothered if I work one or two weeks a month, I am only really looking to bring in maybe £100 a week. But because DH works long, irregular hours I would need to work part time. Does anyone know if this is ever an option? And if anyone knows how much temping work there is generally (I'm in the north west) that would be great to know. The last time I did it I signed up with the agency on a Friday and started work on a Monday, then worked every single day until I quit to start postgrad qualifications. Have those days gone with the recession, or is there more temping work as a result of permanent jobs being cut??

All advice, opinions and info welcome. Smile

I think there are jobs out there at the moment but the hourly rates are poor - seem to have dropped back to what they were in the late 90s (and I am in the South!).

In my experience, I've always found that they normally want a temp for at least a week. Might be best to speak to some agencies, tell them what you are after and see what they say. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised!

Look online at Reed. I'm just about to give up my job and will be temping with Reed on a part time basis

Thanks for the replies, I will give Reed a call next week - I signed up with them years ago (did tons of tests etc) and they never got back to me, so will try a different branch... I'll give the agency I worked with last time a call too.

Thanks Smile
