Disciplinary hearing and boss hasn't followed procedure

Im due to attend a disciplinary hearing on Thursday which I'm pretty annoyed about. Company policy is that the employee should have 3 days written notice. My boss gave me a letter late this afternoon (Tuesday). The date on the letter was Friday but I don't work Fridays and Mondays. So do I point out now that she hasn't followed procedure or just go along with the hearing and then point it out afterwards, bearing in mind that my boss is an irrational person who does not like to be corrected and will probably hold it against me forever more? Any advice very welcome.

I'd find out what the company complaint policy is. And I'd call your union.

Is the timing going to affect the outcome of the meeting? If you are going to be accompanied, does the shorter notice mean that you will struggle to find someone to attend with you? Do you know what the disciplinary is about and did you need that additional time to prepare? If the result of the meeting is potentially going to be less favourable for you because of any of the above I would send an email to your boss stating that in line with company policy you will not be able to attend at that time and will be happy to attend any time from next Tuesday onwards. If you are unhappy simply because they are flouting policy I wouldn't bring it up.

Agree with above. Yes they should give you proper notice and you can point this out to them and rearrange it. If you don't need tge extra time then don't prolong it surely it is better to get it over and done with? I had staff who asked to bring meetings forward as they just couldn't wait to get it over and done with.

I would however mention it during tge meeting and make sure it's in tge notes.

I don't believe that it needs to be 3 of your working days, but just 3 working days. In this case you've been given the period of notice required. I'd concentrate on using the time you're not working during these days to focus on the matter at hand.

Sillybeardy - but she didn't get 3 days notice? Only got letter Tuesday for meeting Thursday?

Sorry! I read the bit about the date being friday and thought that was the hearing. Currently being harassed by a potty training toddler.

In that case, contact your union rep and if your boss has a superior/hr department contact them too. If he isn't following procedures it makes your case stronger. Make sure you can get the meeting rearranged and have representation from your union or a lawyer if you know one!
