Calculating annual leave for part-timers

Ok

If someone works 20 hrs 4 hrs a day they get 4hr taken off their A/L allowance for a bank holiday

If they work 20 hrs (6 on a Monday, say) they get 6hrs off their A/L allowance for a bank holiday (I think)

So what happens when they don't work Monday?

It's not relevant what days they work. They'd get however many hours deducted from their A/L allowance for any bank holidays that fall on their normal days.

So if they work 20 hrs (4 hrs a day) they actually work 16 hrs & get 4hrs AL

If they work 20 hrs (6 on a Monday, say) they actually work 14hrs & get 6hrs AL

But if they work 20 hrs none on a Monday - that week they work 20 hrs & get 4 hrs AL

Is that right?

All three would be paid their normal amount for every week. Anyone who takes time off during the week has it deducted from their A/L total. It doean't matter whether the time they have off is for a bank holiday or not.

If it's a week with a b/h on the Monday, person 3 would work a normal week with normal pay and not have any A/L deducted.

Damn I have been doing it wrong for ages then

I thought they all got a fifth of their week per bank holiday

So I have been giving 31 days (which included 6 bank holidays) - does that mean person 3 has less al to start with than the others

Oh I am so confused

Work annual leave in hours. Much easier when people have different hours each day.

If they all work the same number of hours they all have exactly the same amount of leave. Just deduct the appropriate amount of hours every time any of them have a bank holiday off. The result will be person 3 will have more A/L to choose from but they'll all get the same total time off.

I feel so silly

I got it all wrong Blush
