Going back after mat leave pregnants

Well as the title says, I'm going back after my 9months leave in 3 weeks & I've just found out I'm around 10weeks with the next one.

Can anyone tell me what they've done in this situation I'm really worried my employer will be cross, won't keep my job etc, willmy colleagues treat me differently... I'm worried about going back enough!

Also what happens with maternity leave, will I get it again? Or will I need another 6 months of working to qualify??

Yes , maternity leave is your right.

The amount of SMP you get depends on your qualifying week.

Check out the directgov website.

Direct Gov Here

Did you get enhanced mat pay? You may need to speak to your HR dept to check if there are any restrictions.

No just the regular, 6 weeks at 90% & the rest SMP. That ends in 3 weeks, the thing we're trying to work out is will I get paid for the time off again? If not eek! I've really not much time to save, I guess I'm only going to be back for 4 1/2-5 months

You will be able to take leave. There is no minimum time that you have to be back in work for, but the amount of money you will get (for the 90% bit) will depend on the amount of pay you get in the qualifying weeks.

I think you should be OK as mat leave is counted as continual employment and I couldn't find anything that says it affects future leave regardless of time between leave.

hairytaleofnewyork · 06/04/2012 17:48

directgov on pay

This explains how smp is worked out. It's based on average earnings durum the 15th week before your baby is born.

You will still get mat leave, for definite as mat leave is a period of continual employment. For the sake of those months if i were playing devils advocate i would suggest going back f/t as then your 6 weeks would be higher rate Wink but you defo get smp. Congrats Grin

I had a friend do this exact same thing she got mat leave and had accrued holiday (all at fulltime rate)

HybridTheory · 06/04/2012 20:09

I went back to work at 20 weeks pregnant with #2 and left again at 29 weeks pregnant. I was entitiled to full maternity leave and as I had earned enough money over the qualifying weeks (roughly week 17 to 25 of preg) was entitled to anher lot of enhanced mat pay and smp accrued leave etc. They also have to keep your job for you just as they did with first mat leave
.

Phew! Thanks for the replies, I was starting to worry that I wouldn't be entitled. Silly pregnancy worry I guess, next worry is I'm really scared of telling them I'm pregnant again.... I work in a very male environment, so it's a bit worrying!
