Voluntary redundancy and pension question. Anyone with knowledge of human resources, occupational health etc?

Hello, work for NHS. Nightmare, off with work related stress. Worked there 18 years. Union supporting me and others about the same matter. Don't want to go into details. Thinking the best way to deal with this, for me personally, is to apply for voluntary redundancy and early pension. I can't go back.

Anyone know who I should approach to get impartial information about what order to do things in? Human resources, pensions, redundancy people, or occupational health. Can't really discuss with management due to current situation, though they would need to ok my redundancy application at some stage. Tried my union, they were a little vague about this area and both reps are very busy and now on annual leave till end of March. Spoke to regional union rep and he's not sure of the poilcy where I work.

If I leave will my grievance be stopped? Don't want it to stop as there are other grievances in about the same issue and my evidence is the strongest.

Is voluntary redundancy really what you mean? Unless there is a redundancy situation in your department, there is no reason you would be offered voluntary redundancy due to ill health I'm afraid. What you might be eligible for, depending on the situation, is early retirement on grounds of ill health. Or they might be willing to negotiate a settlement of your claims under which you receive a payment to leave. Any settlement would normally include agreeing that your grievance does not have to be dealt with further, but it doesn't have to. it's a point of negotiation.

Have your union not asked you what you want to achieve out of the process? If they are not around, would it be possible to speak to a lawyer who would do a first consultation for free or a nominal amount?

HTH.

Hi, yes the hospital are asking people to apply for voluntary redundancy and I've had a quote for early retirement so can take that. Not looking for anything on grounds of ill health. Don't want a long drawn out process as I've got my 2 children and am a single mum, just want to keep sane.

I could arrange to see a solicitor, I don't expect the NHS to help me with this anyway.
