YogaBugs franchise - any experiances?

Have been contemplating YogaBugs franchises for a long time.

Does anyone have any experiance? I notice the website now says you would need to commit a minimum of 40 hours a week, which is in excess of what I was intending.

So, am now thinking through the possibilites of sharing the franchise, or setting myself up as the manager, and employing teachers.

Would love to hear from anyone with experiance of this organisation.
Thanks

I do yoga 4 times a week.
I'd never heard of it.
Looked it up - could not see it making ANY money round here - too much competition from the schools

Have you looked at Tatty Bumpkin/Relax Kids or TinyTalk as an alternative franchise option?

Whereabouts are you? I've been toying with YogaBugs for ages as well, so to speak Grin. I think I'd just like to be a teacher, but you need to have a franchise manager for that, and there are none in Scotland ...

Hello,

I have been running a YogaBugs franchise in the London area for the past 6 months now, and am thoroughly enjoying it! Previously I ran a charity and decided a few months ago to set up my own business. I looked at yoga related options, including some of the companies mentioned above, and settled on YogaBugs for a number of reasons:

  • The founder is yoga consultant to the CBeebies programme Waybaloo and this helps to open doors.
  • I love the way in which the classes are taught, taking children on a magical adventure where they get to use their imaginations. This was really important to me as I wanted to teach yoga to children, and not a more generic activity.
  • The website is really great, and regularly updated with news, free downloads for parents etc.
  • There's an online booking system which makes collecting payments and all the adminstration so much easier.
  • The marketing materials are lovely and look really professional, but still engaging.
  • The Head Office team is very supportive and there are clear systems in place to help you to get your franchise up and running.

Since I've been with the company, we've just published a study showing the remarkable improvement children make in emotional and physical literacy as a result of our classes. I don't think any other children's activity offers the kind of structured, yet creative, fun activity we do that delivers such remarkable results.

The company is now insisting that franchisees are able to commit to working on their business because we cover a large area and this has the potential to generate a lot of business. I work full time on my business but the great thing is that I can take a long w/e if I want to and go to a Flamenco class on Friday mornings which I couldn't do if I was still in full time employment. Of course I have to make up the time (as I want my business to succeed and my To Do list is always long) but the great thing is that I can do this in a way that works for me and I'm doing this for my own future.

To run a franchise, you do need to take on teachers so that you can work "on the business" not "in the business." I keep my hand in with teaching by covering holidays. I've got a great team of teachers so I focus on marketing and promoting the business. We're doing a number of events for the Olympics, and I'm getting a lot of interest from schools and nurseries.

If you want to work as a teacher, register your interest as there will be franchise managers in Scotland before too long.

Hopefully this is helpful. And do get in touch with our Head Office to find out more.

hi twiglitmonster,
My daughter (5yrs) does YogaBugs at her school, as an afterschool club. See loves it and sleeps like a log on the night.

Thanks FedererFan.

I am looking at the YogaBugs Franchise as well. I had a meeting with them last week and it was really helpful and so exciting! I recommend you talk it through with them in person, as you get a proper feel for what the company has to offer.

No all I've got to do is pass it by my bank manager :)

Good luck girls!!

Sorry to drag up an old(ish) thread but I am very interested in Yogabugs and was wondering what kind of salary current franchisees are taking from it. Obviously the money is the main reason for any business, not interested in working for the good of my health but to make more than my current freelance business.
Thanks for any insight on this because I can;t find any success stories anywhere yet!

Just seen these replies, sorry I missed them earlier.
I think that, since I first inquired a few years ago, the aim is for the franchisees to work full time. I don't have that kind of time to commitment at the moment (DCs are pre-school age) but the idea of becoming an instructor is interesting. I agree about it being good timing with the Olympics etc.
