Negotiating back to work hours need advice

I am due to go back to work in March and am trying to negotiate my hours down from 5 days to 4 days with wednesdays off as a permenant day off midweek. I have said with notice I am happy to be flexible on this day as my childminder is happy to take my lo on any day of the week.

Work have emailed me today and said On the basis that it is for a trial period only initially I can do the 4 day week but that they reserve the right to review in 3 months time.

I'm worried about accepting this without a fuss as The review would take place just before the company enters its busy period and I'm worried that they will try and encourage me to work that extra day when thats not what I want to do - in fact I would rather work less time not more.

Is there anything I need to raise or ask before accepting this to cover myself. also if 3 months pass and they review the situation and say I have to work 5 days even if I am coping on 5 days can I still get them done for discrimination?

Help any advice would be appreciated

Don't have much experience of this TBH I gave up work when I had DS and now work part-time.
Have a look at the DTI website for employment/flexible hours info.
However, I do know that they can not reject your request without giving it serious consideration and that you will have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that you can still perform your job in 4 days. Hope it works out for you
