Quite long but will try to keep brief.Am getting Knickers in a twist and can't see wood for trees.

I am a Paediatric nurse, have been working as Laundry person for 8 months as was ill and left nursing but now better.

May have chance of job in London.

Issues

1.Would have to move(in rented so not too bad)

2.Season ticket be around £8000(SALARY BETWEEN £25,500 AND £28000)

3.Will need to do an agency shift once a week so we have some money after bills and rent etc paid.

The good things are I can be trained in advanced neonatal nursing within 18 months when I think salary goes up to £30000

Dp and I are trying to looklong term as would not have to work in London forever.

However I have 2 sons(12 and 4)When will I see 'em?Would any of you do it?

Sorry tis long and I haven't even mentioned it all!

xx

I think it could be a really good move in the long term. Look on it as an investment. The commute will be very costly. You will probably be knackered at times. But it will be an opportunity to train in a specialism which you can take anywhere. You won't need to stay in London. In terms of long term earning, and just as importantly, your own fulfilment, it would be an excellent move

Thank you for thatSmile I am sort of thinking that too.I will be 43 this year and without sounding dramatic I feel this is my moment...Smile
It has been 13 years since I worked in London and am also wondering silly things like what is the tube like at 9pm9(silly I know)...Think dp worries about it more than me.
We will move to Grantham which is where ds1 goes to school so be good for him as he won't have to get up so early. But I will have to study and work and will be knackered and just hope I have the brain to do it!

I'm sure you have the brain for it! Tbh you wouldn't be offered this chance if the employer wasn't confident you're up to it. From what you say about the school situation, it all sounds even more do-able. Its not like you're uprooting the entire family- their lives will carry on pretty much the same.

In terms of practicalities like the tube... You'll be fine, I think London has got pleasanter actually over the last 20 years or so. As for seeing your boys- It'll be a new routine so you may find you spend less time with them at some points of the day, but more at others. And they will be so proud that their mum is doing something so worthwhile and interesting.
