I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I apologise if I'm wrong.
I have been trying to find out about becoming an Antenatal Educator, all I seem to able to find are some posts about the NCT and some websites about Midwife training.
I have read that the NCT training is about 2 years long and is like an HND. Also you have to have given birth at least once. I can't seem to find out about how much these courses cost, where they are or what the course content is!
Can any of you help or give me information?
Would it maybe be a better idea to become a Doula?
I currently have no children (I have had several losses) so the likelihood of starting to train soon is non existent.
I really want to work with pregnant women and babies. I have thought about becoming a counsellor for pregnant teenagers and their families as well as helping teenagers with parenting and life skills, the real goal is to become an Antenatal Educator for teenagers.
I feel that pregnant teenagers aren't given a far chance and I know a lot of people who were teen parents who never went to antenatal classes or even baby and toddler groups because everyone was in their 20s or 30s and they felt discriminated against simply because of their age.
I hope that made sense to you! :)
