Can I actually do this in my own home?

I was thinking of setting up some kind of group that meets in my own home. Would there be any legal issues with this or would I need to rent premises?

I would hope parents/carers and preschoolers would attend and that the carer would stay the whole time. If it takes off I would move to halls.

It would be a mixture of learning (for the little ones and adults) and playing.

you would come under the ofsted umbrella - check with the ncma

I wouldn't be minding the kids though, the parents would stay.

A bit like a cross between a toddler group an NCT tea-group and a class.

Basic skills for the parents, bit of light learning for the kids, toys and tea.

I was thinking of charging something low while I test it out. £1.50 or something.

you'll need public liability insurance for a start, check with your home insurance
tax registration
etc etc

You would NOT need to register with Ofsted as you will not be offering any kind of childcare.
Might be a good idea to get a CRB check as you would be having 'regular' and 'frequent' contact with the children, even though their parents would be there.
Agree on need to check whether you are covered for public liability insurance via your house insurance or whether you would need to get this separately.
