Teaching Agencies/no QTS

Anyone able to help? I have a PGCE but it doesn't give me QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). It's for teaching in the post 16 sector which is what I've mostly done.

I have, though, in the past, worked for as a supply teacher for a teaching agency which knew about this qualification and they, and the schools, both primary and secondary, were OK with it. Technically, I suppose I was an 'instructor' though I was paid at the same rates as any other teacher on their books.

Now I have something (wait for it) called QTLS (Qualified Teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector) - there was a recommendation that the government liked that QTLS would qualify people to work in schools ie that it would have QTS equivalency.

Anyway, now contacting agencies again and most say that they won't take on non QTS teachers and aren't persuaded by the recent QTLS discussions (not sure where they've got to). Do you know of any teaching agencies (I'm in the South East) that take on non QTS (but experienced) teachers for work in schools (or in FE but jobs there are few and far between). Many thanks!

Sorry, but I think you might have to work as a non-qualified teacher. I think agencies are increasingly picky due to the supply of people on their books, tight school budgets and other rules/restrictions.

For example, I had taken a one year career break following maternity leave so, despite my decade of excellent experience up to SLT level, I was regarded as not having 'current' teaching references.
