Hiya, I'm on my first day of my paid notice period, and I'm not quite sure what legally I need to do when? My childcare situation is currently still the same but I will be reducing it from April (got a training course full time for a week at the end of March/first week April so need CM up until then at least) and then I'm not sure what hours I will need her to do, possibly one day per week whilst I start freelancing in my old career. So there aren't any immediate changes to childcare for tax credits purposes. Would I let them know now that I am no longer employed, or on the first day after my notice period finishes? Same with HMRC?
How do tax credits account for your severance pay? Do I declare the taxed part of it as part of my income but not the untaxed part?
If I am intending to become self-employed, again do I declare that now or when my notice period comes to an end? Technically I don't think I'm allowed to work during my notice period but I need to read through the document more carefully!
Thanks, any advice gratefully received. I know I can probably find all this information from tax credits website but sometimes it's good to have someone tell you in laymans terms rather than having to sort through all the jargon - unless someones' come across any articles that are really good at explaining it all?
