Hi Taylor
In my experience organisations like the NHS often ask a few 'standard' questions alongside more specific role related questions. I expect you will be asked something along the lines of equal opportunites and team working for example. Outside of that they will be marking you against the job specification so I would take a look at that and think of examples of how you meet it. For example, if it says they are looking for someone who has the ability to work under pressure, think of some examples where you have done this which you can discuss with them.

Good luck!

yup agree with whostolemyname , they will ask for proof that you fill the criteria in the person specification
and also show that you know about the job and dept you are applying for
do the homework and find out about the person interviewing , maybe ask to look around the dept before the interview to show interest

I work for the NHS and have been on a few interview panels, and have been to the recruitment training.

In my trust, you have to ask all the applicants exactly the same questions. You then score each applicant out of 5 for each question.

There is always a person spec, they will be looking for evidence that you meet it.

In my role (scientific), we normally ask some technical questions to check their knowledge, and also some 'give me an example of when you have' type questions to look into their management and teamwork skills. For example we may ask for an example of when they have managed a project well, or resolved a conflict of opinions, or something similar.

good luck

thank you all so much! I have already prepared answers for the questions relevant in the job description. Maybe i could phone and ask to have a look at the department but I am not sure how it would come across? wish me luck:) thanks again

in addition to the above, always ask to go for an informal visit, it goes down really well, and you can probe in depth about the job (which you can then use at interview to look very well informed). Find out about the Trust objectives for the year (HR can give you these) and you can relate your objectives to these in interview.
