Thinking of leaving my job due to health reasons

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice.

I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks to the point that it's sometimes hard to leave the house.

I work part time 4 hours a day. I haven't been happy for a while. A new full time staff member joined my team and I don't get on with her very well, though I do make sure that I am always polite and helpful.

Anyway, I'm just wondering what would happen if I did resign on health grounds?

What financial help would I be entitled to?

My condition is well documented with the GP and is ongoing. I have also been referred to my local mental health team.

Any advice appreciated :)

Sorry, should have added that it's not only the new staff member that is the problem. I am finding it hard some days to actually get to work and to stay there if I feel unwell.

I have had a lot of time off too.

I know that 4 hours a day doesn't seem much, but at the moment, it's just so hard for me Sad

I don't know a lot about this issue but what immediately comes into my head is that if you 'resign' you need to make sure the circumstances in which you leave the job do not jeopardise you rights to benefits.

In your position, I would get signed off by your GP and wait for the firm to terminate your employemnt on grounds of ill health. Do not do something peremptory and just leave without the support and authority of your GP firmly behind you.

Thanks for that advice Smile

Another part of the reason I'm thinking of leaving is because I don't feel I'm giving 100% to my role, and with the time off I'm having I feel like I'm letting my other team members down.

I think I'm kind of feeling they would be better off without me?

go off sick and let work deal with it through their long term sickness process

if you resign you will get nothing unless your GP recommends disability

If you're not signed off as being unfit to work then I can't imagine you'd get much in the way of benefits by leaving tbh.

Thanks for your comments Smile

If I did leave, would I have trouble finding work when I was ready to go back? Having left on grounds of mental health difficulties?
