Anyone good on NVQs/health & social care type qualifications?

I've an NVQ 4 in children & young people. Afaik it's now been changed. The nvq5 doesn't fit with my job as it needs some management stuff to it. I want to move into management but can't get any experience atm.

I don't want to do a degree. I can't afford it and I can't afford to give up work for it.

So I'm not sure where to go from here.

I'm just about to start an Open University module called K101 An Introduction to Health and Social Care. Has brilliant student reviews and was oversubscribed last July for the October course so I had to wait for the February course (Runs Feb-Oct). OU recommends at least 16 hours of study per week (achievable in evenings/weekends - I work full time and have 2 DD) and cost £700.

My work subsidised this under a 'Personal Development' scheme.

Qualification is a Certificate in Health and Social Care, which suits me. But you can add it to other modules to make up to degree level over time (I'm not going that route). Plenty of straightforward advice on OU website on doing this.

I'm using it to get back into studying before applying for a Nursing course (career change planned in near future). hope this helps. Worth a look on the OU site.
