Going back to work tomorrow

I have been on ML since may. The company I was working for is no longer trading. I have a new job working in an outbound sales call centre for minimum wage. I really wanted to work part time but new company only offer full time. My lovely mum has agreed to have DC (6m and 21m) 2 days per week and they will be in nursery 3 days (thank goodness for childcare element of tax credits). I feel sick at the thought of leaving my lovely babies 5 days per week and am panicking how I'm going to get things done like the washing, ironing, play time with the kids, walk the dog, cleaning, cooking etc.

Please tell me it won't be as bad as I think.

:( The first few weeks will be hard but try to get past them and remember you are doing it for your children. You will have good days and bad days, I showed up at work crying on at least 3 occasions in my first 2 weeks back. But now we are settled it's going okay and I'm reassured that the sacrifices we're making now will be worth it in the long run.
Make the weekends extra special with lots of fun Mummy time.
Good luck. Smile

As long as you are managing financially, it will be OK. Mine are 3.9yo and 1.2yo, and I have been back to FT work since both were 9 months. The most difficult part is that after coming from work, it is a mad non-stop running: playing with DC, quick eating in between, bed time routine and preparation of two meals for next day (we use nanny). The only time to myself is brief checking of email after 10pm and 2 mins shower before bed :)
It got much easier though since DC2 started sleeping through night since about 12 months old. I believe the worst is already behind.

How did it go? Smile

It was awful. The new job seriously sucks. Already on the hunt for something else. But for now it pays the bills etc. missed the DCs terribly. Dont think the feeling was mutual though as they were completely unphased when I dropped them off at nursery Angry

Sad it's good they seemed to have a good day... Shame about the job though, maybe it'll get better?

Sad does your /kids dad/dh work? Are you splitting jobs equally?

Do you absolutely have to work

Minimum call centre job doesn't like it pays enough for childcare but I guess if your mum is doing two days free

I'm no longer with the kids dad. He works 6 days a week and has the kids one night in the week and a saturday night and sunday morning. Thankfully I'm entitled to the child care element of tax credits so that helps a lot with the fees. Ideally I would like to work 3 days a week but there are no part time jobs going around here at the moment. I am going to stick at the job until I find something else.
