If you have 2 part time jobs, can you go back at different times?

Hi, I'd appreciate any advice from anyone who has done this, or knows how to? I have two jobs (1 for 1 day a week; the other is 4 days per week), and I could go back to the 1 day per week fairly early, doing two half days. But I don't know if that compromises my maternity pay, and would mean I'd have to return to the 4 day job (which I can't manage). Google searches haven't come up with obvious answers, and HR departments are all on holiday!
TIA if anyone can help?!

I would imagine that your maternity leave would be compromised but I don't know for sure.

It depends when you started the job you want to go back to. If you've been doing it for ages you'll be fine to end maternity leave on that one and continue receiving SMP from the other one. But iirc if you started the 1 day a week job after 15 weeks before you were due, starting back at it will end mat leave from both jobs.

Thanks for replying Smile. Yes, I've been in both jobs for at least 6 mths before getting pg. So you think I could go back to the 1-day job after 6 mths, get paid for that, and keep my SMP from the 4-day job, staying on mat leave for another 6 mths with the 4 day job?

I'm doubting myself now. let me check. :)

Ok it depends whether your second employer is paying you SMP or not. If they are not paying you SMP, you can go back without losing your SMP from your main job. If you are getting SMP from both, you lose both as soon as you return to work for either.

Hi flowery, thanks for checking for me. I'll check with HR which is paying me SMP. But it sounds promising!
