Do you know any temporary agencies that actively help disabled candidates?

Hi

I am in an office-based role in London, which involves using the PC (with adaptations) telephone and dealing with people. At some point, it is likely that I may have to use an employment agency to find new work. I have never done this before.

Any thoughts you might have would be very welcome. Thanks Xmas Smile

iirc remploy actively help people with learning difficulties so they may not be what you're looking for.

The issue with adaptations is that many agencies have limited understanding of what is involved.

What kinds of computer adaptations do you need? Were your previous adaptations (in your current role) funded by your employer or by access to work. If the latter then taking them with you won't be an issue, but if your employer funded them then that may cause issues wrt moving to a new job and needing a new set of adaptive technology.

The problem with temporary employment is that usually a company is looking for someone to start now and the access to work process takes considerably longer than that, and an employer is rarely prepared to wait especially if they're only looking for someone on a limited contract.

Thanks, wannaBe. I am looking at the Shaw Trust, Blind in Business and Reed, having done a bit more research. Remploy would not have suited my needs.

You could try Employ-ability. Cannot link as on phone but it is the .info one as the .org one focuses on students.
