How long before employer should give staff a break

My YD has started a part time job in a certain shop (think chemist and Nottingham). It is for the christmas period on a Sunday. She worked yesterday from 12-5 without a break or a drink. She was on the shop floor. I know it is probably legal but to me it seems a bit like exploitation.

This seems pretty poor to me. what do others think?

Hope this helps :)

I think that the legal requirement is a 20 min break for every 6 hours worked; so 5 hours without a break is perfectly within their legal requirements.

Perfectly legal as under 6 hrs.

good practice for real life.

Ooh, just read the above link - if she is between 16-18 then she will be entitled to 30 mins for every 4.5 hours worked.
