Logo format - what should I ask for?

We've just been through a branding exercise and I've been asked what format I want the logo in. They're printing our paper, comp slips and business card so I just need the logo for email signatures and to add to our excel invoices and the odd word document.

I have no idea whether I need JPEG, PDF or any other random collection of letters.

Anyone have any advice?

You need to have a .eps file which a printer will need for if you want to have letterheads, brochures etc
For other stuff a jpeg will be fine

Also ask for the CMKY and Pantone references so you don't have to fiddle about finding them in the future

You want either indexed or 24 bit PNG files with alpha transparency (depends on whether the logo has block colours or shading/gradients).

For embedding in emails you want 75dpi (dots per inch) at whatever size you want, for documents you want 300dpi.

In case you want to go to another printer you want the original file too in whatever format it was created - probably Illustrator or Photoshop, and ensure that all rights (ie copyright) in the logo are transferred to you.
