Should my boss have acknowledged my telling him I'm pregnant by now - 3 days

I work from home in a different city from main office, so I had to tell work I am expecting DC2 via email, with an attached formal letter for their records. Emailed to MD, his PA (also a friend), CEO and direct boss.

This was Monday 6pm, and now at 9am Thursday I still haven't heard anything. I knew they'd all be annoyed, but I didn't expect to hear nothing, from four people. What would you expect to be reasonable?

Last time I told them in person, but this time around my husband is working overseas so I can't get to London as I have DS1's nursery drop-off and pick-up each day.

I told them 4 weeks earlier than I wanted to because I am really suffering with morning sickness and I needed to explain my reduction in efficiency as I spend a lot of time in the bathroom/lying down.

I emailed one of them about a work assignment, and asked at the end of the message if the pregnancy email sent the day before had been received. Nothing. So I'm now even waiting for replies to do with work, because they seemingly don't want to acknowledge the pregnancy email yet.

Just interested to know what others think of the situation? Should I just sit tight?

Have you tried phoning them. If you want an answer pick up the telephone e-mails are too easy to ignore.

"In meetings"

They are hard to get hold of, but this is getting a bit silly :(

How stressful. I am dreading telling my work, for various reasons, but silence is really horrible. I hope they get back to you soon. Surely there's nothing they can say anyway except that the have noted it and will discuss arrangements in due course. And if they really want to push the boat out they could try 'Congratulations'.

Anyway, I'll say it -- congratulations!

Thanks Veronica.. same to you :)

Still heard nothing from work, and as I don't work on Fridays I bet they think they can put it off until next week now.
Boo. Why are some people so rubbish?!

While it would be nice to have an acknowledgement, they have 28 days in which to formally acknowledge you have informed them.
