Hey, this is potentially going to sound idiotic so I realise I'm possibly opening myself up for stick but it's a genuine question....how do u find work outside of London?

I'm stuck there for a little bit but want to begin feeling my way forwards, probs is I've no idea now where to start at all. I'm just programmed one way and I need help altering please. Ideally 3 day a week/part time all options considered.

Where should I start? I'm lost....

Assume you have an idea where- but local paper normaly have a jobsite - large employers also have websites -

LaCiccolina · 21/11/2011 21:37

Unfortunately all the firms I know are based in London. I'm trying to get out of there. I'm fine with the net etc but where do folks use who don't work in London go to? My local papers pants, can't believe locals are using that. Just looking for inspiration.....so wondered how others around country found their jobs outside of big cities.

I mean you find out who the large employers are in the place you want to move to and look at their websites - that's how I found my recent job

Recruitment agencies, the internet (e.g. monster.co.uk and similar websites), just have a google.

Not knowing what your line of work is, it's difficult recommending specific agencies

WidowWadman · 22/11/2011 09:12

And just because I'm confused - how do you look for work in London? Didn't realise it's different from the rest of the world

NoGoodAtHousework · 22/11/2011 09:22

Job centre plus website???

LaCiccolina · 22/11/2011 15:06

Hey WW, I just meant I know the places to go to, websites, papers, forums etc really well so London is easy for me. I've not been local since at school. I don't know the firms here or the publications to go to or websites that specialise in anywhere but corporations in London. I feel completely like I'm trying to find my way in a foreign country a bit. I'll just have to take dd out on some driving expeditions I suppose and look around a bit more. I just feel really stupid at not knowing where to start here but perhaps I'm blowing it out of proportion.

Talk to people?

LaCiccolina · 22/11/2011 19:50

Yeah Ive tried all flipping year! They have either all worked in Gov offices of some sort (or NHS) which Id have gone for myself but they are laying people off left right and centre, or they all work in the City too and are trying to get FWAs and pondering how to get out of London too. There are so many of us also clueless about getting jobs locally or even which firms are around here. Its been quite funny really that our own home areas are such foreign territory to all of us.

Ill try monster etc.
