Sick but manager expecting me to go into work

I work for the NHS in a temporary admin role and I'm 22 weeks pregnant. On Sunday I started vomiting, which thankfully stopped last night. Unfortunately, I still have quite nasty diarrhoea and I don't dare venture too far from the loo.

I have just had an email from my manager asking if I could come in this afternoon. I know I don't work on a ward but apart from feeling rotten I could still pass on the bug, especially as my DH now has it.

I had dreadful morning sickness right up until I was 13 weeks pregnant so I've had alot of time off and I feel she is really holding this against me.

There's no point me going to personnel as they are absolutely hopeless but I was under the impression that no matter where you work in a hospital, you shouldn't come in if you have D&V for at least 48 hours.

She is going to make my life hell tomorrow for daring to be ill and I'm just finding working for her very stressful. How do I handle it? Shall I just ignore her email and go back in when I'm well again?

If you feel too ill to go into work, don't go. Your manager is not going to give you the sack. Stop checking your work emails, go & lie on the sofa & get better.

Stay off. If it might help then see your doctor and get a note as proof.

I work in the NHS too. I don't want you anywhere near me or the patients when you have diarrhoea! It's a bit late now but I hope you got back to say you are unwell. Go back when you are well.

Northernlurker, that is exactly what I thought. I know I don't work with any patients but I do know that D&V spreads like wildfire.

Plus, up until half an hour ago I was 'being ill' every 20 minutes so not exactly ideal in a working environment.
