Being petty but would like your opinion

I started a new job 6 months ago in a new sector after many years of being a SAHM.Anyway, its been tough but overall I think I have done well. There are only 3 of us on the team,my boss, myself and colleague. So, here is the petty bit.I came into work last monday and the colleague came over and said "I had a meeting with the boss last week and she said something really odd. She asked if I like you". Then made out to be flabbergasted.I just smiled and said 'oh well' but it's really playing on my mind. What should I make of this? Its worth adding at this point that the colleague is the type of person who is sweetness and light to your face but would definitely stab you in the back.I know this as I have seen her do it on numerous occassions. Lots of bitching behind peoples backs (even told her 'friends' boss that the friend wasn't really ill when she called in sick) and has been quite devisive about work issues between myself and the boss. I have dealt with this by being friendly, not joining in the bitching and keeping a bit of a low profile. I have my review tomorrow and am half tempted to ask boss about it but I have that nagging voive saying 'don't.just forget and move on'.Its just niggling.

If your review is coming up then maybe it was just a cack handed attempt to find out how you and your colleague are working together. She might ask you the same question of your colleague. I'd say don't over think it and just see how your review goes.

Watch out- I work with someone like this and she is always trying to sew 'seeds of doubt' into everyone's mind. She could be jealous etc.

Best thing to do is ask your boss for an honest appraisakl of your work in your review. If your boss doesn't bring anything up then they can't weeks later. Your review is a chance for any issues to be raised but don't get dragged into talking about what sounds like a nasty colleague.

Agree with Jennifer R. She's fishing for info and gossip mongering. If your boss had an issue with you, you would know, they are never quiet about it, so ignore her and don't rise to these little games. I guarantee what ever you said would have been dropped into a conversation she then had with the boss later too.....
