return to physiotherapy after 6 year career break.

Anyone out there who has returned to one of the health professions after a long break? To re-register as a physic and therefore work again I need to do 60 days retraining, half of these can be study days but I need to do at least 15-30 supervised working days. I know the job situation is awful but i need to start at some point. Local hospital has offered to help with retraining. It works out well for them as they get a qualified physic to work for nothing!

Just would like other folks experience at retraining!

My sister did this she had to do the hours for hcp but got through it easily and loves working even more now than before (paeds) and discovered private work to fit in around her children as well.
Good luck

Thanks mayday. That should read physio not physic :)

Using your phone no doubt! Damn predictive text.
Good luck and throw yourself in! My DH is a physic (!) too and he had never been out of private work as muscular skeletal and all very family friendly hours too.

you have my sympathy. I have had nearly 6 years career break from law and think I will struggle to get back into it Sad

If you need a guinea pig to practice on please feel free to PM me. Have been referred by GP for physio which GP said I needed sooner rather than later (shoulder problem which she said could become frozen if not treated) and have just received a letter from the hospital saying over 15 week waiting list for first appointment Sad

Good luck getting back into your career

Thanks lawstudent, I can't practise using the term physiotherapy until I register with the health professions council again, therefore have to work supervised and unpaid for 30 days. You'd be better paying for a private physio clinic to assess and treat you than wait 15 weeks.

Yes, that was the view I had carries Sad

carries - are you still there?? Similar situation to you. Can I ask how much experience you had before you started your career break? Also where did you find the info about having to work 30 unpaid days?

Thanks.

Hello!
I qualified in 2010 as a Physiotherapist in England and then took a 2 year travelling gap. I want to know how easy it is to get back to my Physiotherapy career after this amount of gap with such little experience after qualifying.
How do you find out the requirments to rejoin the CSP?
I would be grateful for any help or advice.
Thank you.

Danielle.
