Going back 3 days a week - should I spread my days out or do them consecutively?

Would love to hear from you if you have gone back to work part time. My maternity leave is up and work have offered me a 3 day week. 1 year old DD will go to nursery 2 days a week and DH will care for her for 1 day. Should I go back eg Mon, Weds & Fri to spread out her days in nursery? Or should I do my 3 days at work in a row so she has a big chunk of the week at home?

Oh and I used to get extra pay in lieu of BHs because I didn't work Mondays, my colleagues that were p/t but worked Mondays used to have some pay deducted, they calculated it all once a year and made the adjustments that month. Was all written into our contracts.

AAAAAaargh. I was all smug because I'm working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday because I thought I'd get all bank holidays "for free". I'm not so smug anymore!

It's illegal if companies don't equalise everyone for bank hols now

Really appreciate your advise and experiences. Will find out this week what work will let me do!

You see, I really struggle with this because when I went from ft to pt, my place specifically asked if I would work Mondays as it's our busiest day. Then my job went job share and now suddenly, my counterpart, who does the same hours at the other end of the week, gets a more favourable contract than me. It's not equalised at all in practice. When those Mondays are bank hols, I can't work them, so I get no choice when I take them. Plus it costs me days out of my meagre annual leave.

Yes, although they have to equalize you financially, the circumstances do not turn out equal. Gwendoline is there any chance your company would switch to altering your pay instead of taking your annual leave to cover Mondays? Or would that be a worse proposition?
