mums that want term-time jobs

Hi,
I/we as a company have been having real problems getting people interested in various term-time vacancies we have. We have placed several adverts in local papers in the West Wales/Somerset/Warwickshire areas with little to no response.

I thought the jobs would be ideal for mums with young children who want flexible working conditions, but is there a better way to find these people?!

Please help. Thanks

god thought they'd be fighting for term time posts too!
advertise in school newsletters / playgroups/ church halls??

Maybe your jobs are unattractive?

mum765 · 08/06/2011 19:20

What kind of work are you offering? And are they school hours?

MovingAndScared · 08/06/2011 20:05

you could put a job advert in the jobs section on here - its not expensive I think - also it could depend both on what the job is and the pay -or and what the advert actually says. I have seen quite a few term time jobs advertised and they have often looked like they would be quite difficult and didn't pay much

wish you were round our way south yorks/north notts border

itsnicetobenice · 08/06/2011 20:15

whats the job?

Cupcakeaddict · 08/06/2011 21:34

Sounds strange that you had little interest. Could you give more details?

WhoWhoWhoWho · 09/06/2011 08:03

I agree most mums would bite your hand off for a term time only job, is it unsociable hours? for example if the hours are early mornings or late nights it would be difficult to get childcare for those hours.

mamalino · 09/06/2011 08:17

Any reason you are specifically trying to recruit mums rather than dads or parents in general?

flork1 · 09/06/2011 23:52

Amazed there has been little response. Anything underhand going on here?

I live in Warwickhire - would love a term time job and not seen any of your adverts - maybe thats an issue? where did you advertise?

PaperView · 12/06/2011 21:00

Would depend on the actual job, the pay and the way it is worded. If it sounds like a pervy old man looking for young women to letch on then it's no surprise that no one has applied.

Leahope · 03/08/2011 15:20

what vacancies are they?

kittensliveupstairs · 10/08/2011 10:32

I would kill for a term time job. I am currently back in England with DD while DH is in Belgium. I really need to work, we are skint and I am not entitled to much in the way of benefits other than child allowance.
Why haven't you come back OP?

LCarbury · 13/08/2011 20:49

Term time on its own is attractive but childcare not always easily available everywhere to fit this i.e. applicants might find they can only access full-time childcare or none. If you made the finish time 2.45 or 3pm I think this could help as then the only childcare your employee would need for school age children would be a breakfast club or similar.

Op is called Sarah at Evans, is it a retail job? Wish I lived in the area if so!
