Can I claim childcare vouchers through own limited company?

Currently pregnant and wondered if it's possible to set up a childcare voucher scheme through my ltd company and sacrifice a portion of my salary to pay for childcare vouchers.

I pay myself enough to cover N.I. but less than the income tax threshold.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Don't quote me on this, but I am 99.9% sure you cannot claim child care vouchers if you are self employed.

I'm not self employed, I am classed as an employee of the ltd company.

not if you're self employed 100%

Good question, I am in the same position as you ( I run a limited company which only employs me) and I asked my accountant this...

I wish I could remember exactly what he said ( baby brain) but he thought it wouldn't be worth it because the amount you save in NI contributions, as a company, is offset by the fact you will end up paying more in tax somehow...

I realise this is enormously vague and not helpful, would love it if someone more coherent has a proper answer to this

Discussed recently here. Either your accountant or your memory is wrong Grin

Thanks mranchovy, that link to that thread is useful. I think I will forward it to my accountant to see what he says. He previously said he didn't think it was worthwhile, but sounded a little non-committal about it.
