Finding an employment lawyer

Hi, I posted below about the changes being made to my role and I'd really like to look into whether what's happened to me is legal.

Can anyone tell me how to go about finding a good lawyer? And will I be able to get some advice for free?

Thanks v much for any help anyone can offer.

Ring ACAS for free advice on any employment issues you are having:

To find an employment solicitor, go onto the Law Society website and look for specialists in that area near where you live. In my experience there aren't that many solicitor firms that are focused on employees' rights but there are a few out there.

you might also want to try your local citizens advice bureau or if there are any law schools near you they sometimes run law centres where you can go for free advice. Plus some employment lawyers will offer you a free 30 min session on certain evenings. Personally my experience of ACAS is that it can sometimes vary in advice depending on who you end up speaking to on the phone but i don't think that should stop you ringing them, just something to be aware of.

Russell Jones and Walker are a national firm with an employment law department. They also run the employment helpline on behalf of the NCT.

I have a friend who has used them and been happy.

Forgot to add going rate for a London employment lawyer starts at about £150 + VAT per hour

Have you tried your contents insurance? There is often a legal cover on this for employment although doesn't cover every situation.
