So, what do people pay their cleaners? And where do you advertise for them? I'm in Sunbury, so I don't expect to pay central London rates.

uwila, do you do internet shopping? i find it's a lifesaver.

I pay mine £7.50 p/hr and I buy the cleaning products. She just lets me know when I'm running low or if she prefers a particular brand

bakedpotato · 08/11/2005 14:51

We pay £25 for 3 hrs, but that includes some ironing. She leaves out empties/tells us what's needed; we supply.
As for finding a cleaner: ask your friends/neighbours if they can recommend anyone good. It's probably worth pointing out that if your friends/neighbours love their cleaner, they will be vetting you at this point.

uwila · 08/11/2005 14:52

I do internet shop but even that takes time... of which I have NONE to spare. Hence the cleaner that I can't really afford. But if we waited for me to clean the house it would look like... well... it would look just like it does.

Any more quotes on the rate you pay? (I'm giving up on the idea of her/him providing supplies for now)

why does your internet shop take up time?

Have you set up lists of your favourite/order all the time goods? If so I shouldn't take longer than a couple of minutes. I get mine done in 5 mins maximum.

MarsLady · 08/11/2005 14:54

it shouldn't

handlemecarefully · 08/11/2005 14:56

£7.50 per hour on Hampshire/ Wiltshire border. She buys the cleaning products and then furnishes me with the receipts and I pay her back

handlemecarefully · 08/11/2005 14:57

Waitrose Deliver seems to me much faster for internet shopping than say Sainsbury To You btw....Have you tried it?

MarsLady · 08/11/2005 14:58

I love my ASDA. Excellent value too!

PreggieMum · 08/11/2005 15:03

I'm in Berkshire. We pay £12 per hour, but cleaner provides the cleaning products, with the exception of laminate floor cleaner which we have to provide.

I think the rate should depend on how fast they are too. We previously used a different cleaner, who we paid £7.50 per hour, but she took about 3 hours to do the cleaning whereas our new cleaner takes 2 and does a much better job.

handlemecarefully · 08/11/2005 15:05

I love my cleaner but her standards have dropped. Yesterday I re-mopped the kitchen floor after she had departed and finished her work

Reported above poster - plus activated a zombie thread!

NoAddedSuga · 26/11/2013 11:23

I put an advert in the job centre for a cleaner

I pay £10 an hour, i live in north west manchester

I provide cleaning stuff. I dont like cleaners using their own cloths. I ask them to use mine.

NoAddedSuga · 26/11/2013 11:24

Bloody hell, didnt see it was a zombie thread!

Lonecatwithkitten · 26/11/2013 11:34

I am not that far from you and would expect to pay 11 to 15 per hour and supply cleaning products. Those rates are non-agency rates.
