Setting up a cleaning company, advice needed

I am going to do domestic and office cleaning with a friend, any advice welcomed.

How do I get office cleaning contracts and how are they paid? Do they sign a contract with you? if so what's in it?

I figured I would supply all the cleaning fluids and stuff like that but what about the hoover? Do I bring one with me?

Any advice please?

You should be able to get assistance through the local authority. Business link etc. Sometimes grants available too for start up business. Do this first. They will also see whether your ideas are feasible. Self employment is blinkin hardwork and a friend isnt always the best idea. You have to do NI and tax would of your takings.

Dont expect to make much money either. Dont forget you seriously need to do your sums and see what drawings you'll be taking at the end of the day. Driving around all day isnt cheap, you need insurance cover, how many jobs can you do a day? How many days a week? There are lots of companies out there charging £10ph but paying employees £6.50ph. Contracts would be less and you would be expected to start ultra early or lates. My brother runs a sucessful business down south but its a husband and wife outfit as employees were either stealing/being off sick or just not working. He has to work extremely hard and the clients expect the world while paying peanuts. You also need good references.

I pay my cleaner £10ph for 3 hours work. I expect her to tidy, clean and re-organise my home. She brings her own products but uses my cleaner. She only needs the money for extras and only does two cleaning jobs a week.

You can go out and earn an ok part time job £7ph being employed with all the benefits. Whats happens if you fall out with your friend? no childcare, car breaks down, sick? Once slef employed there are no holidays, sick, or cant be bothered days.... so workie - no payie. How much money do you want to draw per week, be realisic - most households need an income of £600 - £1000 pm for one partner or you need to double that.

Also a reminder - self employment is different with child tax credit as it works on profits.

Please, please do some basic sums before investing in websites/advertising/leaflet drops etc.
