Window Cleaner

I'm not sure if this is the right area to post this in but hope if it's not someone can tell me where I should put it.

We are the first owners of the house we are in (though house isn't so new any more at nearly eight years old). MrScout was in the process of buying it as it was being built when we met, so I moved in with him after we got married. Sometime when the house was new MrScout acquired a window cleaner but the details of how this came to be are still fuzzy to me (I'm American, MrScout English, we were living continents apart at the time so I wasn't around) but I'm fairly certain there's no "contract." (I have asked MrScout the details of aquiring this man's services but even he is a bit vague/fuzzy on it.)

I haven't trusted this window cleaner for years and after almost as long trying to convince MrScout of my concerns he has finally agreed/relented and has agreed that maybe we don't really need this man's services. Because I'm now a SAHM dealing with the window cleaner seems to have fallen to me (which I hate because the man really gives me the creeps and makes me very uncomfortable). I feel that we need to give this man formal notice of no longer requiring his services but since I'm not aware of any written/formal contract am at a loss as to A) How to go about it and B) How much notice do we need to give him?

I want to do it formally, in a letter, given to him in the envelope I give him his money in, but MrScout thinks I'm a bit nuts and should just tell him verbally.

Any advice gratefully accepted!
Thanks!

One of my dhs jobs is window cleaning. When people no longer require his services they usually write a note in with their last payment.

There will be no contract but a breif note is probably the best way to do it - although verbally would be fine

Thank you! I just didn't want to make some really big mistake.
