Full or part-time at nursery?

Not sure if I should put this here or in 'nurseries'.

My DD goes to a private (read, expensive!!) nursery. DD currently does three days a week, which is double the cost of a full-time place at the new nursery! I am applying for a place but this is my concern/problem. She is only three and I am not sure that I could put her in full-time (as it is within a school, the hours would be 9-3.30). I know lots of parents do this but just want some advice/reassurance. Is she too young to be in nursery 9-3.30 five days a week??

It's up to you really. Don't forget that she'll be entitled to 15 hours a week from from the term after her 3rd birthday, which is after Easter, yes?

Yes, she will be but this other nursery will still be half the cost per month. Anyway, it isn't only monetary (although, a big factor), it is more about leaving her for so long.

Why does she have to go full time at the new nursery? Bit confused - probably missed something somewhere along the line. I dont think I could put a three year old in for that many days/hours but plenty do.

Because of the hours I work...and because the new nursery is within a school. It means their hours are different to DD's private nursery. So, at the moment I can put DD in for the exact time I work but it wouldn't apply with the school hours. Although, I have had another look at the sessions and if I mix it up a bit (and cut my lunch) I have found a way that might work whereby she won't have to go full time. I am with you on that one, I don't feel comfortable putting her in full-time at this age.

Have you thought about sending her to a childminder ? Not as expensive and more homely atmosphere >

DS was in 8-6 5 days a week (and dd the same, but 4 days/week)

Whether it will be OK depends mainly (IMHO) on to what extent it is the 'norm' - if she would be the only one doing 5 full days she might feel a little aggrieved, if there is a viable full-time 'gang' then she will be fine.

What are you going to do about school holidays, though?
