Need to work but don't know what to do

I have been at home for 15 years!! I have been very busy bringing up 5 children including multiples and am now at the point where I really want to return to something (it needs to be part time and family friendly!)but don't know what. I have a degree and had a good career in fashion working as a franchise controller and buyer for a high end women's men's and children's retailer. I set up my own business 5 years ago publishing a local magazine (mymag) but in spite of being quite good at it I loathed it and it wasnt the part time option that had been told it was, I therefore sold it on. I now have a part time job as a sales assistant in a high street store. I only do 8 hours a week but can do more when they need cover. The people are lovely but the wages are super low and although I can walk away and not have any work stress at the end of the day, I know I am capable of so much more! ( I spent years training people like me!!)We really could do with a decent extra wage now with the whole funding uni issue on the horizon however it would be impossible for me to work full time . As you can see I am in a real muddle. I think working from home would be a good option as I could still get on with the mundane (3 loads of washing a day , doctors and dentist appointments, shopping, cooking etc etc). Does any body know of any companies that employ people to do admin from home earning more than £6.50 an hour??!! If I could bring in anything between £600 - £1000 a month it would be a massive help and if I could enjoy it along the way then that would be amazing. Am I asking for too much?? Aother issue of course is lack of confidence - I'm just not sure what I'm good at any more :/ . Any ideas ?!

hi nell5, after 5 children (i'm on my knees just dealing with one!) I imagine you could run the world if you wanted to! I gave up my career in investment banking when DS started school and started my own business with Usborne Books. I've been doing this nearly 2 years now and it has given me so many opportunities to do things that I had never tried before. It was a low risk, low-cost way for me to see IF I could run my own business and suited me as I am passionate about books and reading. I have no natural ability at craft, home-made anything so it needed to be someone else's product and ideas. It does take time to build up a viable business rather than paying hobby. You state wanting £600-£1000 pcm - as you know already part-time work seems to be proportionately poorly paid. With your own 5 children your network of contacts should be so broad that working for a child-centred company could make very good sense.
