Working from home advice & ideas

Hi! I was wondering if any of you could give me any advice & ideas for working from home. My only problem is, due to health, I cannot drive & the community around me is quite small with the nearest town approx. 45min drive away so the idea of party planning work, which seems to be the main one i've come across in my searches so far, isn't really practical! Confused
My thanks in advance x

what are your skills / experience / interest
the best businesses grow out of what you did before you gave up full time work or what your hobbies are

I recently started using a website recomended to me by a friend. It's doofa.co.uk and lets me earn some extra cash that I can spend without the other half knowing about! Grin

Thank you everyone for your suggestions I will check out those websites. TalkinPeace2, I am a qualified Occupational Therapist and have worked with people with mental health issues, learning disabilties and other physical health problems but I also have a background in administration/receptionist/PA work thus why I had considered data entry jobs but I am really hesitant to get into that as most of them i've seen seem to good to be true & therefore are probably scams!?! x

Admin - go work for a temp agency - at least then you get a extra NI allowance - and you know the work is real.
Therapy - the market is pretty tough for you ATM - specialise in depression and contrast your fees against 10 years of diazepam may be the best approach - NOT a joke - VFM says you are better than "mothers little helper" - the GPs just need to know you are there - maybe a targeted visit session with all your local GP's might do the trick...
working in their offices - that you can walk to in the morning might be a real winner - I'm just blue sky thinking here but all options are options

sjglenlyon · 10/04/2011 16:31

Unfortunately temping isn't really an option, because I can't drive I can't be as 'flexible' as the agencies would like me to be, or so they've told me before anyway. There isn't really anywhere near that I could walk to where I could do admin or OT related work unfortunately.
I sound like im being really negative & finding an excuse for everything but honestly thats not the case, it's just i've already tried to think of so many options but my MAJOR problem is that I can't drive, which is likely to be the case for a long time, and where we stay is sooo far away from places that would offer me this option! I just hoped that maybe someone would come up with something I hadn't thought of already so I really appreciate your suggestions :)

Is there anything you could sell on ebay?
or start growing fruit and veg - to sell locally - now that spring is here?
Do you have space for chickens? sell eggs?

Do you have any contacts in any companies - even if not local - that could outsource some of their work to you to do at home ie chase debts, type up reports. Any friends/dh friends etc??

Cleaning houses locally?

or is there a local supermarket/shopping centre? You could get a job there - with enough hours to make it worthwhile the 45min trek?
