hi wondered if anyone can make any comments or has any advice re a work situation?
It is a kind of a longish story so will try and keep it as simple as possible!
Last July I increased my hours and that left me working alone on a night shift with someone who hates her jobs, hates everyone at work. I find her very difficult to put up with as much as I try and ignore her moaning it takes its toll on me.
In Oct last year I become very ill and now have a long term illness. I had a month off in Jan as could not cope and experience and alot of pain and tireness. I have been on a phased return to work and have been working up to full time.
I have been coping ok untill the hours increased and I now have to work with this lady again. I feel so stressed it is unreal. I thought the problem could of been that I had been working alot of hours before my illness but now I am begining to think that the stress from working with her may have been a bigger problem. Sorry its long lol anyone any ideas what I can do? anyone been in this situation before and have an idea how to sort it out? Any managers around who deal with this problem at work?
thanks

I am manager and if i was you I would speak to your manager. If you came and spoke to me I would try and deal with this lady. If someone is that unhappy in her work she really should not be there. I'm not sure what your line of work is but if you are working with people when I would say that if she is like this she is not competent in her job and that is a disaplinary issue. I would also suggest to make notes of the issues when they happend. Rather than just say 'she moans all the time' have specific times, dates, examples. Your manager would then find it much easier to deal with.

Thank you Danpige. I know that is the right thing to do but just know it is going to turn her against me and cause an another problem. She likes working me at the moment!! I think my manager knows the issues with this lady's approach to others but she has been employed for over 20 years by the company so can't see much happening reguarding disaplinary.
I think she scares the seniors as she is a union rep so therefore tries to rule most of them too except the manager. We do work with people but they are in bed most of the time as its a night shift.
