Being interviewed for a big job tomorrow. How much can I look at my notes?

I've written some notes in bullet points. Two pages of them. Does it look a bit shit to refer to notes? Or is that acceptable?

Any interview tips at all will be very gratefully received.

I think it's acceptable as long as you're not reading from them, as a reminder of the points you want to make they are fine. Good luck!

I think 2 pages of notes might get a bit overwhelming to look at while trying to answer questions. Can you take a few key points in with you, and keep your pages for reading while you're waiting to go in?

Thanks. The notes are already paired down to essential bullet points. I think you're right though that two pages will be overwhelming.

We were talking just last week about this very topic (we're v. odd at times!). We've interviewed a good few people over the years and, almost without exception, the people who bring notes / certificates / examples etc always seem to end up shuffling things around and trying to look at what they've brought with them.

Remember that you've already done the written bit (I assume) with your CV / application form. The interview bit is about conversation and getting to know each other a bit.

Be honest with yourself about whether your notes will really be helpful to you. If not, leave them behind.

I have interviewed around 12 people recently and 4 of them had notes with them. They did not interview well and none of them were offered a position. It came across that they had a 'script' that they wanted to get across.

I wouldn't.

I wouldn't either. I feel it might be more helpful to take blank sheets in and jot down some key points in response to the question, if you think that might help you. It can also be useful when you have a multiple question/2-in-1 type thing. Good luck.
