Travelling on business and leaving children

My job has always involved travel to a greater or lesser extent.
Returned from maternity leave in Nov and have not had to do much travel so far but it is about to increase, and does include weekends at times.
Have two DCs. DS 4, DD 1.
Just wondering how any other folks deal with this . DH is usually pretty good - but he has not had to deal with this with two DCs yet, so could be a bit of a challenge for him but I think I am more worried about how I will cope with leaving them all for days at a time ...any suggestions / coping stragegies?

I've recently had to do this - my DH actually relished the challenge to prove he could do it just fine (he travels a fair bit), and like that he now understands how tough it is.

In terms of coping I recommend skype, I have it loaded on my iphone and most hotels have wifi. Also, talk to your DC beforehand so it's not a shock that your not their. Mine are similar ages to yours - the oldest was fine but the youngest was a bit upset, although the second time I think he got it more and understood that I would come back Grin

And lastly enjoy the freedom, I took full advantage of both peaceful nights for some uninterrupted zzzzz and to go out, drink, dance and be merry. Hth

i'm thinking my older one will be more of a problem as hes become such a mummys boy!
skype...good idea. i will have to teach my DH how to use it first
However i am looking forward to some extended 'me time'
i will probably have to employ some serious bribery too and come home laden with gifts!
