And I'm really excited Grin. I officially started my ironing business (oh it sounds very grand describing it as a business, it's just me and my obscenely-priced iron) last week, and I designed my own website - a pretty steep learning curve.

The site's been live for 3 days and I've just had my first enquiry, so hopefully it's going to be a success!

I've just had thomsonlocal.com trying to sell me extortionately priced advertising, it did feel strange talking about "my business" Smile

Yay! Could you try adverts in local newsagents etc (computer printed) before you go to humungous expense of directory advertising? Having said that, years ago, I did find that Yellow pages advert did pay for itself.

Good luck!
DS is in the process of setting up a website business at the moment.

Congrays - 1 of many I hope for you.
Gumtree is good for free adverts too.

Thompson / yellow pages = utter waste of money now
only thing DH pays for is adwords
and for a location business, google maps would be useful for you....

For cheap local advertising, try printing out a load of A5 size fliers and getting your newsagent to deliver them tucked inside the evening or free paper. Ours only charges something like £40 for this and you get great local coverage for very little outlay.

vistaprint.co.uk is great for cheap & really good looking marketing materials. Once you order something, they send loads of emails offering you free stuff, so whatever you are wanting usually comes up on one of their free offers every week or so.

You pay for postage, which is quite high (it's all printed in Belgium), but the quality is great and if you get stuck you can phone (0800) a very nice man in Belgium who will sort you out.

An excellent way of looking a lot more professional than the competion, I think.
