Going back to work and income support?

Does anyone know how much I can earn whilst on income support before it is affected? Or if I earn about £200 a week how much better off I'll be?

Me and my husband aren't working at the moment. My husband is my son's full time carer because he is registered disabled and I've recently had a baby, she is 7 weeks old tomorrow. I'd love to go back to work, not for the money but for me! Am I wrong to worry about how it will affect our benefits? I feel like such a sponger and my husband does too but we are setting up a charity so we can keep busy.

I don't want to stay on benefits forever but is it worth going back to work and being worse off?

Am not sure but on JSA as a couple you can earn £20 and the rest is taken off your benefit. If you go to work they may well put you on JSA as income support is primarily for those who cannot work as they have children and no-one else to look after them. To get onto working tax credit you will need to work for 24 hours+...that may be the way to go!
