Would anyone mind helping me draft an email?

I met someone yesterday who is working for the same organisation as me but in an area that I would like to pursue. She is a couple of grades higher than me but she came across as very personable and I'd like to approach her to find out about her background and experience as well as get some advice on how I could move into that area. Any ideas about how I might ask her for a meeting without putting her off?

What grevling said. But with an extra full stop somewhere.

Nah, impress her with your use of the semicolon.

Ooh, thank you for the replies. Will take note of punctuation issues. BTW I wasn't talking to her about what she does, she was giving some training session as part of her role. Does this make a difference to what I write? Really what I'm hoping for is for her to get to know of me and my interest so that if/when anything comes up I can be on her radar. Informal networking I suppose.

Why don't you ask if she will act as a mentor for you?

Echo MrsSnaplegs.
It's an incredibly flattering request: people rarely say know. Just make sure you have some concrete objectives you can give her for what you'd want from the arrangement.

I was hoping to get round to that if we meet, once I've heard what she's got to say. She may be very different in 'real life' as opposed to 'in role' IYSWIM. It would have to be an informal arrangement as my organisation have stopped running the schemeConfused.
