The Microsoft Office website is good and has lots of videos and tutorials. It includes different versions of PowerPoint:-

don't forget people are almost always universally grateful if you keep the number of slides down... Wink

roisin · 02/03/2011 19:29

And if you put text on your slides, do NOT read out that text when you give your presentation.

And keep it simple - simple colour scheme (2 colours), one font, no more than two font sizes.

Use the animations very sparingly or not at all.

dh pays the boys (11 and 13) to do powerpoints and posters for him.

I've taught them design rules - keep it simple, unfussy, clean lines, lots of space, etc.

and they do a really professional job.

I would recommend using more than two colours. Unless your aim is to bore your audience rigid!

You can do a lot more in PowerPoint than just bulleted lists.

dont use powerpoint. seriously. just dont. there's a reason why its called death by powerpoint. ...

use prezi if you must.

your own body language, your own personality, your own method of speaking all carry far more weight and will make your presentation come alive more than any powerpoint death would.

Don't know the context but can you get a copy of someone else's slides and modify them? I do this a lot, happy to let someone else to spend ages crafting a lovely set of slides with logo, boxes, fonts etc, then reuse /edit as required. Saves so much time, and no one's ever complained - and I'm quite open about it too "can I have a copy of your slides to reuse for my report?". Plus the original author can give you tips and advice on specific techniques if you need it....

Hi cat64
If you download RealPlayer, it allows you to download videos from YouTube. When you hover the mouse over the video a "Download this video" button appears. There is a free version available here
Good luck with the presentation!
