Have job interview this week Confusedand have to do a 20 minute presentation. Struggling to make mine last more than 12 minutes....whats the least that you think I can get away with! I don't want to include a load of rubbishy waffling to make it longer as actually think its a decent presentation as it is! HELP

Sorry cant help cos i'm shite in interviews and presentations. Just want to wish you a massive good luck and hope someone comes along wit good suggestions. But I purpose 15min will not be seen as short.

I would do a shorter presentation and say at the beginning that you will leaving time for questions

Say what you have to say and don't waffle

People rarely remember much from a presentation. To stand out, don't try to fill several slides wht bullet points. Just do a few very simple slides, maybe a big number on one slide,a photo on another, a word on another. If you are suggesting a new project, give out a sample or something as an aide memoire.

I would have slides printed out on big bits of card, so that you don't have to faff with putting a USB into something or fiddling with technology.

Don't get overawed, think of your panel sitting there in their underwear. Grin

I did a presentation for interview recently (for a job it turned out I didn't want) and the feedback I got was v positive except they would have liked to see an example of the subject in action. Can you add an example or another example?

Can you flesh it out a bit by capturing their imagination- bit of video and music? Whats the presentation about generally? Like idea about questions too.
I would be tempted to make it right length but have parts you can remove or skip through if you need to make it shorter- showsm flexibility.
Or could you get them involved in another way- a mini quiz or something a bit different? Always good to get audience involved and emove focus from yourself in these situations- will give you time to have drink and calm down, rethink etc.

I have padded it out a bit now, and have decided that alcohol and not worrying is the answer (tonight, not on the actual day). Its a social work based presentation and I am happy with it, so if its not 20 minutes, thats just tough!!
Thanks ladies, was having a meltdown earlier.
