I was off sick on Monday with D&V, temp and all sorts of other things. I work full time in an office where only 3 other people are FT and everyone else is PT. When the PT people are sick on the days they are supposed to be working, they just come in on a day when they are normally not supposed to be working and so don't get a sick day against them.
As I am FT I don't have that option, so every time I am sick (which as it happens is incredibly rare - I've only had about 6 days sick in 6 years until the start of this year, but Monday was my 4th day since Jan) I have to take it as a sick day as I can't work any other days. I was just wondering if that was fair or not? It doesn't actually matter as we're not big enough to have any kind of policy which kicks in if you've had x number of sick days in a year or anything like that, but I was just musing. If for example a potential future employer asked to see my sickness record it would show every day I've been off sick, but other colleagues who only work 3 days a week yet are sick far more often than me would show an unblemished record as they had made the days up. Not sure if that's fair..
So, does anybody understand what I'm saying? Any thoughts?
