Formal Complaint

I lodged a formal complaint on the 8th of Jan of this year, this complaint was about being assaulted in my work place by a senior member of staff, I was interviewed on the 13th of Jan by my manager and another manager, statements were taken from both myself and my witness.
Both I and the person who assaulted me are off with work related stress since the incident, I?ve heard nothing at all from work with regards to this incident.
Anyone work within HR who would know if this is normal practice or not?

are the police involved?

No it's not normal. When you ask them for details of what's happening what are they telling you?

Police are not involved as I thought it better for work to deal with the issue as it wasn't a serious assault (although it was assault)
I've had no response what so ever since my statement was taken, when my union rep asked she was told that the issue had been dealt with and that was the end of the story and I only need to know it has been dealt with, I disagree with this although understand that I won't be told what form of disciplinary has been taken, I would have thought I would have least got a letter of explanation from HR, but nothing (this assault took place on the 7th of Jan and reported to management on the 8th )

If you are off with stress then you should have had contact from your employer in some format (mine does home visits). You do need to know the outcome because it probably affects your return to work, ie. is the person still likely to be there? I can't imagine any places that would tolerate an employee assaulting another so I would expect them to be dismissed.

If it's a formal complaint presumably it's a grievance in which case there ought to be a grievance procedure they are following, including telling you the outcome. Do you have the grievance procedure or whatever formal procedure you are using? What does it say about outcomes?

Hi and thanks for all the feedback, I've just been told today by HR that disciplinary has been carried out, I've not been told in what form and suspect I'm not going to be told.
I?m also being told that this is normal protocol within the health service so I suppose there isn?t a lot I can do about it.
